PORTS AND FUNCTIONS

Before friend know more about what it pelabuhan.Terlebih first we need to know the meaning of the port itself. According to the meaning of the word, the definition is the port berths. If according to government regulations no. 69, 2001, on port, which is port is composed of land and waters surrounding the boundaries as places of government and economic activity is used as a lean ship, docked, up and down passengers and loading or unloading of goods that is equipped with facilities safety of shipping and port support activities as well as the movement of intra and inter-modal transport. 

PORTS AND FUNCTIONS

The port is a facility at the end of the ocean, river, or lake to receive the ship and move cargo and passengers into it. Ports usually have tools specifically designed to load and unload cargo ships docked. Crane and refrigerated warehouse is also provided by the manager or private parties concerned. Often built around supporting facilities such as canning and processing of goods. Government Regulation 69 of 2001 regulates the ports and functions as well as  management.

Ports can also be defined as an area sheltered waters of the ocean waves and is equipped with terminal facilities include : 

1.  Pier, where boats can tie up for loading and unloading of goods. 
2. Crane, to carry out the activities of loading and unloading of goods. 
3. Warehouse sea (transit), a place to store charge of the ship or that will be moved to the ship. 

The port is also a gate to get into a certain area and as a liaison between the local infrastructure, inter-island, even between countries. (Triatmodjo, 2009) 

PORT AS FOLLOWS FUNCTION 

1. Gateway
   As gatewaw (Gate) a country or region, because a ship can memasuli a country / region or a country through the port  which area concerned. 
2. interface
   The port serves as an interface (connector), means that port with all amenities available can conduct the removal of cargo from sea transport (ship)  transport land or vice versa. 
3. Link
   Harbor serves as a link (link), the point is that the port is a chain of transport processes (transport) charge of local producers (of origin) to the recipient or consumer stricken. 
4. Industry Entity (Real / Zone)
   Port as industrial entity (industrial area), is due to changes constitute  means work environment is dynamic, then the provision of a wide range of port facilities need to be developed, including facilities for the industry, especially the industry that has to do with shipping and other marine transportation.
