BUILDING TYPES OF COASTAL PROTECTION

Good morning and welcome move SHIPPING MATERIALS friend. At this time will share articles about BUILDING PROTECTION BEACH which is also a major task in marine engineering marine engineering courses. In coastal protection building there are 4 types namely Groin, Breakwater, Jetty, Seawall. For more details, please refer to the understanding of the types mentioned above.

THIS TYPE OF BUILDING PROTECTION BEACH : 

• TYPE GROIN 
  Groin is a structure built to securing indented coast is relatively perpendicular to the direction of the beach. For the base material of construction in the groin generally is wood, steel, concrete and stone. Installation groins interrupt current flow so that the sand beach caught on "upcurrent side," while the "downcurrent side" erosion, due to the continued movement of coastal currents.
  In the use of groins should be made with a series of buildings that consist of several groins with a specified distance that coastline visible form is significant because if there is only one use of the groin groin ineffective. Type L-shaped groins, I and T is built to suit the needs of the beach which will be paired groin. 
• TYPE JETTY 
  Type Jetty is a building that is perpendicular to the beach which is placed on both sides of the river that has a groove serves to reduce silting of coastal sediment and protect shipping lanes. In addition to protecting shipping lanes, can also be used to prevent silting estuary in relation to flood control.
  

  JETTY TYPE ARE: 

1. long Jetty
   said long jetty if the long edges are beyond the breaking waves. This type is intended to prevent the entry of sediment into the estuary, and if you use this construction cost is very expensive Thus if the function is only for combating floods then use this long jetty ekonomis.Bangunan not used if the area to be protected against flood was very important. 
2. Jetty is being
   Jetty being when the ends are inter- water level receded and the location of a breaking wave which serves to hold the majority of sediment transport along the coast. 
3. short jetty
   In short jetty if the foot end of the building located on the surface of the water receded. Short jetty has a function to hold  turn estuary and concentrate flow at a predetermined flow to be eroded sediment.

• TYPE BREAKWATER
  Breakwater or often people call offshore breakwater is made structures parallel to the beach and have a certain distance from the shoreline. Breakwater serves to protect the coast against erosion by destroying the heavy wave energy before it gets to the coast and causing sediment behind the building. 
• TYPE SEAWALL
  Seawall is a wall for flood prevention that serves as a protection against power surges that come to the coastal areas. Basically  this in seawall made of concrete, steel sheet pile / wood, masonry and concrete pipes seawall that not dampen wave energy, but the waves hit the seawall surface will be reflected back.
